Thankfulness

Happy Thanksgiving,
This is the day when we are supposed to give thanks for the abundance that we all share in. Yes, I know that the abundance is not distributed evenly and we are not all as fortunate as everyone else. However, I do believe strongly that we all have much to be thankful for.

"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful." ~Buddha

I also am a firm believer that we shouldn't only be thankful on Thanksgiving or just every now and again.

Every major religion of the world teaches that your day should begin with thanks and praise. I agree and practice a daily ritual of thankfulness.

As I walk my dog each morning in the early light of the new day I begin by singing a short song of thanks followed by giving thanks for life and all the things that make me who I am. I am grateful for my capabilities, my senses, my mind, my body, my plans and dreams, my short comings (they are what I will improve upon and grow from), all of the "speed bumps" in life (they are the challenges that force me to grow) etc.

I then spread out my thanks for my wife and children, their health and happiness. Then my extended family and friends and relationships. I grow outwards from there.

Perhaps I am just thankful to feel the cool breeze. Maybe to be an American with all of the rights and responsibilities that go with that.

I am thankful for the food I eat, the house that shields me and my family from the elements and the clothes on my back.

I could go on but I think you get the picture.

By cultivating this thankful attitude on a daily basis we are focusing on what we do have.

If you believe as I do that you will always get what it is you focus on then in turn I feel that I will receive more of the blessings in life.

Of course, things aren't always rosy. Life has its ups and downs. By cultivating that thankful attitude we can better manage the bumps in the road and not overreact to them.

So, on this day and every other day, give thanks for what you have and enjoy nature's blessings as you were meant to.

Live Victoriously,
Joshua Stein

I am so thankful for all the things in my life. Everyday is a great day...a day we are alive to celebrate with family and friends.
P.S. Thank you Josh for this website. I look forward to reading it everyday. It gives me a positive message to remember and work on all day long. It helps me work on imporving my outlook on life and on people. Instead of looking at things with a negative slant, I find myself looking at things with a more positive perspective. Thank you for helping me.

Hello To Everyone....I too am thankful for all the things in my life...I always tell people.."have a good day..cause EVERYDAY is one"!.....I also wake up everyday..and honor God..plain & simple..there are so many ways to do this...no matter "what" you believe in OR "who" (if any)..whatever your belief system is..it is something that I do in order to "honor" the universe..It's all about Love and Compassion...

Thank you Josh for your story...I'm glad to see that I am not the only one who can "sing" out loud as they honor their day!!!

Peace & Love To All..

Hey Josh,

I've benn getting your daily mails for about a month now and I just wanted to say thank you! I've passed them on to a few people and everyone has been touched by your quotes.

One that particularly moved me was the one of gratitude. Years ago a flatmate of mine who worked in hospitality said the most important word in the English language was Thank You (ok ok that's two).

But it wasn't until your quote that I realised I was very good at saying thank you to others but not as good saying thank you to the heavens for the abundant joy and bliss and wealth in my life.

To give you an idea, we live in Paris, above one of the best cheese shops in the world. I mean, man, does it get any better???

;-)

Hugs
Matt

If one can think deeply one will always give thanks, anytime I think about so many wonderful things that I am blessed with, including the wonders of creations and creative things, I am so thankful.

Many people want to be in a situation that we are in now, but couldn’t for one reason or the other.

I read a story of a man long time ago, He was very poor and he keep given, I don’t want to bother us with the full story but what really shocked me when asked him why do you keep given when you don't even have enough?

His answer was so simple and powerful He smiles, “I am so thankful to God for being alive, and I can see, I can feel and I can touch.

That change the way I react to life situations, I can write, I can share love and I can fellowship with another fellow.

I am so thank-full.
