This was a post on a message board I post to:
What I want to know about is getting started taking action. Usually all I get is motivational stuff, but the problem is that most of me doesn't think my life is worth the effort to live it. How can I start taking action when I don't feel like it - I'd rather be asleep - and worst of all I don't know where to begin. My job takes up so much of my time and energy that I don't even feel like cooking, cleaning, and doing laundry most of the time especially knowing it is just going to cost money I barely have. And I don't watch teleseminars ... got transcripts?
Here was my reply:
Interesting reply. As for taking action, I agree it can be a challenge. This is for everyone who feels that they just don't have time to get started or go for it.This might help. (Or it might just annoy you)I like to recall that every one of us has only 24 hours in a day to use. It doesn't matter if it is you or I or Bill Gates. The key is what do we do with them?I understand that at the end of a day we are tired. What if we woke up a little earlier?I myself am up (because of work) at 5:30 and my day is pretty packed until about 5 PM. I try to utilize every "working" minute for work. Not just my job work but my own personal development and business work. I know, your job is different.I am a teacher so I have very structured times to work, can't leave the building or take calls. I have owned over $1,000,000 of residential real estate but sold half of my holdings since and have a personal development business. But the few minutes of "FREE" time I use to my benefit to return calls and emails etc. When I play I play.I get home, eat dinner with my family and help take care of my 2 kids (ages 4 and 2) and after I put them to bed I go to work on my fortune. I admit, some days I just relax but not most. some nights I am on a teleseminar some posting comments to boards like this. I believe the key is to find something we are passionate about so that fatigue doesn't matter. The truth is, start small but start.Excuses are reasons for failure and I don't want to fail. (I have done that enough times)So in a nutshell, Start small but start. Work when you are most productive and work smart. Most of all just decide to do it.I end with this question. If you are waiting for someone to come by and turn you on, what happens if they don't come by?

Thankfulness
Happy Thanksgiving,
This is the day when we are supposed to give thanks for the abundance that we all share in. Yes, I know that the abundance is not distributed evenly and we are not all as fortunate as everyone else. However, I do believe strongly that we all have much to be thankful for.
"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful." ~Buddha
I also am a firm believer that we shouldn't only be thankful on Thanksgiving or just every now and again.
Every major religion of the world teaches that your day should begin with thanks and praise. I agree and practice a daily ritual of thankfulness.
As I walk my dog each morning in the early light of the new day I begin by singing a short song of thanks followed by giving thanks for life and all the things that make me who I am. I am grateful for my capabilities, my senses, my mind, my body, my plans and dreams, my short comings (they are what I will improve upon and grow from), all of the "speed bumps" in life (they are the challenges that force me to grow) etc.
I then spread out my thanks for my wife and children, their health and happiness. Then my extended family and friends and relationships. I grow outwards from there.
Perhaps I am just thankful to feel the cool breeze. Maybe to be an American with all of the rights and responsibilities that go with that.
I am thankful for the food I eat, the house that shields me and my family from the elements and the clothes on my back.
I could go on but I think you get the picture.
By cultivating this thankful attitude on a daily basis we are focusing on what we do have.
If you believe as I do that you will always get what it is you focus on then in turn I feel that I will receive more of the blessings in life.
Of course, things aren't always rosy. Life has its ups and downs. By cultivating that thankful attitude we can better manage the bumps in the road and not overreact to them.
So, on this day and every other day, give thanks for what you have and enjoy nature's blessings as you were meant to.
Live Victoriously,
Joshua Stein

I wanted to share:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Hello To Everyone...
The question was..do I/we enjoy getting our daily quotes...Of course I do!..It's like someone who looks forward to having their morning coffee and reading their paper...I look forward to my daily quote...so THANK YOU..Josh and to your website!
Just a thought to "throw-out" to everyone, especially with the Thanksgiving holiday approaching us....
"Give Deeply.....Whether It Is Noticed Or Not"....(Maria Starr")
It is a quote that I often think about...and try to pass along to my family and friends...In the days to come...we ALL will be busy...with family & friends..celebrating ...We will be busy shopping and arranging our holiday plans..even perhaps traveling...I guess my point is...whether we can "give" a little or alot...SOMEONE WILL notice and benefit!!So ..let us ALL take a moment to be "thankful"
Peace & Love,
Carrie

Re: The act of Kindness Quote
Good morning Josh....
Love it...the act of kindness..that is... Hey...here's another thought....even better...and when you smile at that "someone" and "another someone" witnesses that smile...they too..get the "gift" of your act...(not to mention yourself as well)...So now let's think...one "small" act of kindness...whether it be a smile or lending someone a hand can actually affect three/or more people!!
WOW!!!!!
Peace & Love to you and your family,
Carrie

Kindness-
"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted." ~Aesop
Have you ever heard of the "Butterfly Effect"?
The theory that a butterfly flapping it's wings in North Americacan cause a typhoon in Japan?
What if that smile you give or the hand you lend can give someoneelse that little bit they need to keep on going?
You may never know it but your kindness may change the world!
Why not give it a try?

You always have a choice
Last night I was watching a movie with my family, The Fantastic 4, Rise of the silver Surfer. In a nutshell The silver surfer is sent to planets by Galactus to get them ready for Galactus to devour the planet.
Why would he do that? Because he has made a Faustian deal with Galactus in order to save his home world and lover.
Now that you have the background, there is a scene in the movie where The Invisible Girl played by Jessica Alba asks him why he would help to destroy planets. The surfer's answer is because, "I have no choice".
She incredulously replies that there is always a choice!
I vehemently agree!
Friends, there is ALWAYS a choice. The ability to choose is one of the things that makes us human.
We can choose:
To get out of bed or not.
To wake up happy or not.
What to wear.
What to eat.
To exercise or not.
To smile or not.
To stay or go.
To love or hate.
All of life is a series of choices.
"But," you say, "I don't have a choice. I hate (my job, smoking, my spouse, being over weight, poor etc) but I can't (stop, quit, leave, run, etc.) because I have (a family, an addiction, no money, no time etc.)"
Well, maybe you can change it today and maybe you can't.
But you CAN CHOOSE. You can CHOOSE how you feel about it!
If you can't quit your job because you have a family you can decide to improve your skill set and find a better job in the next year.
If you can't exercise because you have no time you can choose to wake up a half hour earlier and start easy with some calisthenics or a walk around the block.
Choose to do something small to start off with.
Choose your attitude.
Choose to be Response Able (responsible) for your life.
I guarantee you will be better for it.
